I love the nuts-and-bolts of company building and am lucky to work closely with incredible founders every day to help them turn their visionary ideas into profitable companies.
Jason Schoettler is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Calibrate Ventures, a seed-stage venture firm investing in AI, automation, autonomy, machine learning, and robotics. His personal mission is to advance standards of living by backing technologies that unlock step-function gains in productivity. He pursues this mission by partnering with exceptional technical founders at the earliest stages, bringing more than 20 years of pattern recognition from deep-tech investing and company-building.
Prior to co-founding Calibrate, Jason was Managing Director at Shea Ventures, a multi-billion-dollar family office, where he led investments in and advised companies including Dollar Shave Club (acquired by Unilever), Evolution Robotics (acquired by iRobot), and VictorOps (acquired by Splunk). He began his career as a consultant at Ernst & Young in the Bay Area before joining a JPL/Caltech spin-out software company as its sixth employee.
Outside of work, Jason can be found on adventurous road trips with his wife and three teenagers, or off-grid in the high country with fly rod in hand. He holds a BA in History from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in Strategy and Finance from the Peter F. Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University.
