As a former engineer, backing technical founders is my passion, and seeing their businesses come to life and thrive in the world is my greatest privilege.
Kevin Dunlap is Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Calibrate Ventures, a seed-stage venture firm backing transformative deep tech companies in advanced software, automation, artificial intelligence, robotics, and related fields. With over two decades of experience, Kevin has partnered with visionary founders to grow companies from the earliest stages to billion-dollar exits, providing hands-on operational guidance and leveraging a powerful network of operators, investors, and strategic partners to accelerate scaling and commercialization.
Prior to Calibrate, Kevin was a Managing Director at Shea Ventures, where he led investments in standout companies including Ring (acquired by Amazon), SolarCity, and Chegg. He began his career as an engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), working on new mission design.
He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University at Buffalo and an M.S. in Financial Engineering from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. When he’s not scouting the latest tech innovations, Kevin can be found enjoying the beach with his wife and two young children.
